Welcome to Thunq.com!

Hello, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my goals for this site. I am a chemist by degree, but a programmer by trade. For more than a decade I have developed in languages like C, Perl, PHP and Java, developing mainly web apps and other programs to support various online business ventures. I have somehow become a jack of all trades and (sadly) master of none.

While my days were often full of typically mundane programming, I often found my mind straying to daydream about what I would rather be coding. Those daydreams from early on involved AI development - to develop systems that could think, reason, act independently, and even emote. Unfortunately at my company we did not have the luxury of R&D purely for the sake of R&D. Our programming efforts and resources needed to stay focussed on the business at hand, and that business never crossed paths with anything AI-related.

Slowly but surely over the last few years I have been able to find some spare time during which I could nuture my interest in AI and am launching Thunq.com to serve as an online repository of AI information, a site to aggragate and editorialize about AI news, and a place for others with similar interests to meet, discuss, and expand their knowledge. Inevitibly this site will also touch on tangential technologies and fields including biology and chemistry, math, robotics and electronics, Linux, and programming in general.

I thank you for stopping by and invite you to contact me if you have any questions, comments or problems.

- Tony
